Tips to improving Self-Esteem

Self-Esteem is a big problem for many people. Sometimes you might ask yourself, “When am I going to feel confident and sure about myself?” Well, hopefully this blog will help you out . Self-Esteem is the confidence in one’s own worth or abilities and having self respect. Low Self-Esteem is when having generally negative overall opinions of oneself, and placing a general negative value on oneself as a person.

  1. Take Self-Esteem Inventory- Make a T-chart then list 10 weaknesses on one side and 10 strengths on the other . This will help you know on what things you have to work on. Also, if you’re having a difficult time listing strengths then list the good things that people have told you.
  2. Set realistic expectations-  It can stop beating ourselves for not meeting some idealistic goal.
  3. Set aside perfection and grab a hold of accomplishments and mistakes- Nothing is ever going to be perfect. Instead or trying to be, embrace your accomplishments as you achieve them and acknowledge them for their actual value.
  4. Explore yourself-  Find yourself, and then make sure to know yourself.
  5. Be willing to adjust your own Self-image- Self-Esteem is useless if you based off of your old self. Keep adjusting your self-Esteem until it matches with your abilities!
  6. Stop comparing yourself to others- Nothing can hurt more than unfair comparisons. The only person you should be competing is yourself
