Tips for your first interview

You’ve successfully turned in your job application and you finally get a call for an interview. Now there are some things to make sure you do. Here are 10 tips you need to know.

  • Research- Do research over the job. You want to know exactly what you’re applying for.
  • Practice- (before the interview) answering questions to be ready for when the interviewer asks you questions
  • Appropriate dress- Make sure to wear something appropriate. A dress that doesn’t show too much and a suit that is clean and not wrinkly.
  • Punctuality- Make sure to arrive 5 minutes early. It gives a good impression and it is always better to arrive earlier than late. Also, there might be some traffic or events that might cause you to be late.
  • First impression- Introduce yourself, speak clearly with confidence, make eye contact, shake the interviewers hand firmly.
  • Posture- Sit/ stand up straight,it shows that you are interested in the job and alert of your surroundings. If you slouch it’ll look like you are tired.
  • Contacts- If you know someone that works in that same job make sure to mention that to the interviewer.
  • Your exit- Before you leave make sure to smile and thank the interviewer for their time, then shake their hand.
  • Body language- Give all of your attention to the interviewer and smile
Hygiene- Take a shower and smell good! Bad hygiene is gross.
